Report from SOM Committee (2018-2020)

Zonta Club of the New Territories II was chartered in March 2018. Currently, Zonta NT II has 20 members and 3 perspective members. In view of the recent COVID-19 epidemic, the incoming board of the 2020-2022 biennium will be installed on 13th May electronically via Zoom.
In the 2018-2020 biennium, the club held meetings at different venues, recently electronically, including a well-received Joint Clubs Panel Discussion on Sustainability and Wellness on 27 May 2019. Members of the club attended Area 2 Meetings, 2018 ZI Convention, 2019 D17 Conference and other joint clubs activities.
For Service and Advocacy, the club has worked closely with the underprivileged teenagers in the Tin Shiu Wai Area on a long term empowerment project. Over the last 2 years, members of NTII worked with 20- 30 girls, in cooperation with local service agencies and professionals on empowering these teenagers in self-grooming, introduction of various vocational and professional trainings. Members were hands-on and worked side by side with these girls in 6 different events. In January 2020, in collaboration with St. James Settlement, the club arranged a hiking and picnic with the underprivileged families at the peak, joined by families of the club.
The SOM committee, Margaret and Winnie, communicated with the NTII Board regularly and gave advice in club operation and other Zonta business. Board members and members of Zonta NT also provided training and shared Zonta experiences with NTII members at various occasions.
