The Z Club at Sacred Heart Canossian College has been very active during the past biennium under the leadership of its Z Club Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 25 November 2017, eleven board members helped energetically with the preparation of table prizes and selling lucky draw tickets at Zonta NT\u2019s 35th Anniversary Celebration cum Charity Dinner. This activity allowed the Z Girls to meet with the Zontians and to develop team spirit and communication skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 8 to 16 March 2018, the club celebrated the International Women\u2019s Day. The aims were to raise the awareness of the students towards gender equality and to encourage them to chase for their dreams with courage and confidence. Purple ribbons symbolizing justice and equality, and bookmarks designed by the board members, reminding the students the importance of gender equality, were distributed to students and teachers. A board display introducing the famous women in history who did great work to boost women\u2019s status, and a movie-watching programme that inspired participants to strive for their dreams and contribute to the society with courage and perseverance were held at the school. Our Zontian Irene Chan was invited to share with the whole school on community services that enabled women\u2019s status to progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 23 and 24 March 2018 at the school\u2019s Fun Fair, the Z Club held an escaping game. Through various mini games in the haunted room, students learned the importance of serving and helping others, and were encouraged to strive for their dreams when facing obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Heep Yunn School Z Club<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Entering the second year since its establishment, HYS Z Club decided to move beyond the walls of the campus and reach out to the community. With the support from local service groups, two community service projects targeting primary school students were organized in November 2016 and July 2017 respectively, aiming to spread love and care and promote gender equality in the young minds. Within the campus, a movie sharing and discussion session on Hidden Figures, a movie on female empowerment, was conducted, while a bulletin board display about child marriage in Nepal was placed at the school entrance in celebration of International Women\u2019s Day in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aiming to promote the club to the whole school, HYS Z Club kicked off the 2017-2018 academic year with an assembly promotion and a board display at the school entrance with the empowering message that everyone of them can be female figures that change the world. A movie sharing was held in November 2017 and the movie was Beauty and the Beast, followed by a discussion on the symbols in the movie. To honour International Women\u2019s Day, chocolate and stickers with motivational quotes were given out in the morning at the school entrance. Continuing their passion to serve the community, a service project was carried out in February in which students made bracelets and fai chuns with low-income families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Joint Club Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In August 2018, the SHCC and HYS Z Club members will be taking part in a \u201cjob shadowing\u201d project, during which they will learn about the actual working world from mentors from Zonta Club NT, in various fields such as law, finance, medicine, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another worthwhile event is the Mock Legislative Council Debate, an annual event in which all Z Clubs from Hong Kong participate and which takes place at the Legislative Council chambers. This biennium, it was the Zonta Club of the New Territories\u2019 turn to organize the event. Thirty students from 9 Z Clubs took part in the Mock Debate held on Saturday 22 April, 2017, and twenty-nine students from 8 Z Clubs took part in that held on Saturday 14 April, 2018.
